Flea Markets, Horse Shows & Más
Each day we seem to discover something unexpected in Seville. I thought I'd share a few of them with you.
If I had room in my carry-on, this Flea Market would have been dangerous.
Glovo is a food delivery company whose workers buzz through town on these little scooters. It was fun to see this one gathering flowers for a delivery... perhaps to one of the many weddings happening often.
I love the highly placed doorknockers. It is fun to hunt for unique ones down every narrow passageway.
This 'find' was so delightful for the children (and their grandma). Such pageantry.
Parades seem to spontaneously occur. What fun.
We have spent a bit of time in Maria Luisa Park, the most famous park in the city and most visited. "Opened to the public in 1914, it is an ideal corner for local people and guests to rest in the shade of a woods, stroll with loved ones on the trails or sit and appreciate the trilling of fowls."
A definite must was a visit to Las Setas (The Mushrooms). Initially titled Metropol Parasol, this architectural wonder is a large, predominantly wood structure located in the old quarter of the city. It's comprised of a traditional market, restaurants, a performance square, an archaeological museum, fun parks for the kiddos — and 'rooftop' terrace with a panoramic view of Seville's old city.
Selected from 65 submissions in a city-sponsored competition, the structure was designed by German architect Jürgen Mayer, and completed in 2011. It is roughly 490 by 230 ft with an approximate height of 85 ft. It is visible from afar which makes it even more tantalizing. Plus, it has an uber cool photo opportunity.
There are just so many things to enjoy here. WE 🧡 Sevilla!
