Wild Things at the SLT Library
Steve and I spent three days babysitting our two youngest grandchildren. A wonderful resource for us was the South Lake Tahoe Public Library. Two story times, ample things to play with, along with a fabulous selection of never read before books helped to make entertaining so much easier (it has been a few decades).
A highlight was definitely Wild Things, Inc! We were front row, center, for all the animal action and we were mesmerized. I mean when can one get this close to a lemur? By the way, did you know they say "Hello" by licking one in the nostril? Yep, this lemur said hello to Greg, the animal wrangler, a lot (below).Conservation Ambassadors Wild Things was founded in 1987 for the explicit purpose of housing and caring for displaced wildlife.
This amazing organization provides a home for over 60 species of wildlife. These animals are shared in wildlife education presentations, which are offered to thousands of school children (and library patrons) every year. The hope is that through meeting these animals and hearing their stories, future generations will gain a greater appreciation for the natural world.
This shy opossum was so adorable. The ahs were very audible.
This tiny skunk had her share of fans, too.
We learned so much about kangaroos and got a really great, giggle evoking, up-close look. So fun.
Boo the Owl was a hit, too. Man, so cool.
But it was the finale which got the audience most excited. Meet Noah the Boa! The facial expression on the little girl in the middle was priceless.

good libraries build services,
great libraries build communities."
