Bay Day/Science Night...

For my last volunteer ADA escort to Vikingsholm for the season, I filled my car with friends and we delighted in a girl day by the Bay.

We all, Karen, Cindy, Sarah (home from college) and her mom, Laura, hung out together, separated, and then regrouped for an afternoon of fun in Emerald Bay.
What a diverse day. We ogled nature's beauty.
We hugged Old Growth trees.
We put our feet in Lake Tahoe's pristine water.
We picnicked lakeside.
We frolicked in flowers.
We even marveled at waterfalls.

Something spectacular was found everywhere we went.
What a perfect day in Emerald Bay!
We ended our day at the most amazing Friends of the Library presentation Space Talk: 50th Anniversary of the Landing on the Moon. Physics Professor Dr. Cathy Cox discussed, thoroughly and very entertainingly, the history leading up to the Apollo 11 flight. She shared the most incredibly interesting information about the astronauts who first walked on the moon, along with the spacecraft and logistics of this historic flight. WOWZERS!

Tang and a Moon Pie... oh my!

There was so much information shared and we learned so much. Our goal is to find Todd Douglas Miller's documentary Apollo 11 at an IMAX somewhere soon.
"We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things.
Not because they are easy, but because they are hard."
-John F. Kennedy
