Exploring Lake Tahoe...

At 7:30 AM we were gathered by Bob and Jenny for a fabulous day of fun! On the itinerary: birding, hiking, laughing, picnicking, and so much more.

Jenny had discovered a new trail and we were all eager to explore it. Note the attire. It was 37° when we started. Brrr.

Our first stop was at Chimney Beach. This beach is named after the stone chimney that still remains on the lakeshore, a remnant of the caretaker's cabin that once stood there (once part of the Whittell estate).

Bob and Jenny were on a mission to find the Canyon Wren.
It did not take long for these birding sleuths to find their treasure. This little guy was a sweet bird with an unforgettable song.

Secret Cove is a beautiful 'hidden' beach where clothing is optional and the locals keep it pristine. We may return here one day and promise not to blog the photos we take that day.
Beauty was everywhere.

“To say it was a beautiful day would not begin to explain it.
It was that day when the end of summer
intersects perfectly with the start of fall.”

Oh man, 37 degrees while its still officially summer! That's just wrong. I'm staying in this parallel universe where it still feels like summer. But happy that you had a great time.
