Lava Beds Part 2: The Caves...

Why people come to the Lava Beds National Monument, besides the above ground beauty, is to explore the more than 700 caves. Spelunking is BIG here.

The Visitor Center loans out flashlights. At times, these are very important.
Many of the developed caves contain trails and stairways or ladders into the cave. Needless-to-say, we chose to explore the developed caves. Mushpot Cave was a great introduction. It contains exhibits and is the only lighted cave here.

Oh yes we did!

What an incredible explore of an incredible place.

Love the caves, looks like it was chilly in there, but oh so beautiful!
