Olympic Opening Ceremonies...

David and Karen graciously included us in their very fun Jambalaya eating, Olympic viewing shindig.

Food and wine are two very important ingredients at one of these gatherings!  Marget brought this very apropos veggie tray.

David is a phenomenal cook.  Our first foray into his Jambalaya had us hooked!  This Louisiana Creole dish of Spanish and French influence was the perfect entree for our international night.

This aerial view of our watching arena must be explained. Karen's photo of us is rather funny.  (From bottom to top) Mike is on a chair; Steve on the floor; I'm next to him under the zebra blanket; Tricia is under the red covers, snuggled up to a very asleep Nicole, blanketed in purple fur.  David is on the couch. Marget and Mark are nestled on the love seat. This photo totally depicts the coziness of the evening.
It was described by the LA Times as, "On a chilly night along the shores of the Black Sea, Russia welcomed the world to the Sochi Olympics with a giant embrace that was equal parts elegant, awkward and Putin."  We enjoyed it for various reasons.  Mostly, it was friends being full of great food; delicious wine; and hope for the success of our athletes. GO USA.
