Christmas comes early to Tehachapi

This little town of 14,000 residents really knows how to celebrate a holiday!

We joined the masses in watching the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.  The magic of the holiday season permeated the air.  It was beautiful.
I am a huge Santa fan!  There is something about a cold winter night and snuggling up to Mr. Claus that just makes it feel like Christmas.
Leslie's gift to me was tickets to  "A Christmas Carol" at this historic theater. Built in 1932, it was once the old movie theater in Downtown.  It was destroyed by fire, but lovingly recreated.  It seemed the perfect location and day for Dickens' 1843 tale which, when written, was credited with restoring the holiday to one of merriment and festivity.
Scrooge's lesson learned is one we should all remember.  "Scrooge himself is the embodiment of winter, and, just as winter is followed by spring and the renewal of life, so too is Scrooge's cold, pinched heart restored to the innocent goodwill he had known in his childhood and youth."
Jacob, an actor in the play, was one of Leslie's kindergarten students, many, many years ago.  Everywhere we go, she is constantly getting hugs from children and their parents.  It's fun to be a part of her community, if only for a weekend.
We ended our evening by driving through the town and admiring the Christmas displays.  There is something very merry to me about bright lights all aglow.
Our entire visit, together, was one of merriment and festivities!  Dickens would have been proud.

What an amazing way to spend a day! That is a fine looking Santa and Mrs Claus! I too love all the lights, we still drive around the neighborhoods and check out all the lights every year.
