For a picnic with friends and so much more.

When we were invited to visit Wrights Lake with our friends, we were eager to experience a new vista. This place is not only peaceful and spectacular, it has history, like so many locations in this area. Around 1850, Bert and Ed Wright came across a mountain lake filled with
good water and surrounded by lush grass for their dairy cows. In 1916, longtime camper, George Smith made the first inquiry into
building a cabin at Wrights Lake. The Forest Service, owners of the
property, then and now, issued him a permit and in 1929 the first campground was built. |

The cows are long gone but the beautiful lake with its motor free quietness was the idyllic spot for our afternoon. Some kind people loaned us their canoe for an unforgettable experience. |
|
Joan and Dick introduced us to their dear friends, Dolores and Inger who were delightful companions. It was the perfect picnic spot. |

We turned a corner and this vibrant Penstemon patch made us stop. |

I have a love of flowers and to see them still in bloom is an added bonus. Our day was one of walks, talks, enjoyable friendship and the discovery of a new place for escaping. |

I cannot believe what a GORGEOUS shot that first picture is. Amazing.
I learned an interesting fact during my online traffic school class (yes, I learned something). Lake Tahoe holds enough water to cover the state of California in 14 inches of water!
