Reno for Friends, Music, & Festiveness

Steve and I have never done an overnight in Reno, Nevada. When Bob and Jenny suggested we all go to "The Biggest Little City in the World". We were in!

A little bit about our home for the night. The Eldorado Hotel-Casino (1973) was the first hotel-casino to be constructed north of the railroad tracks on Virginia Street. Because the railroad then ran above ground, and because the existing casino district was on their south side, many voiced doubts that the Eldorado could succeed. But it beat the odds, and in 1978, the Eldorado expanded. Another major expansion, in 1985, brought a new 20,000-square foot casino floor stretching the length of the entire block, while a new hotel tower brought the number of rooms to 811. The 500-seat showroom, which opened in 1997, was our ultimate destination.

Many merges and purchases over the years culminated in 2020, when Eldorado Resorts acquired Caesars Entertainment and kept the Caesars name. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. We were impressed by all the hotel had to offer. It was a great choice for our inaugural stay in Reno.
The El Dorado happens to be the location hosting our reason to be there... Jingle Bell Rock!
"Jingle Bell Rock is the brand-new holiday spectacular from Sisco Entertainment, created exclusively for the iconic Eldorado Showroom. Festive, fabulous, and bursting with music, dance, and seasonal sparkle, it’s the ultimate celebration of Christmas cheer going on from November 28th - December 28th."
"Starring dazzling performers from London’s glittering West End, including Laura Dawkes and Oliver Ormson, who star as Anna & Hans in Disney’s Frozen the Musical on Disney+, this show delivers powerhouse vocals, smooth harmonies, and choreography sharp enough to slice through tinsel."
"Adding to the magic, Jingle Bell Rock proudly features Reno’s own rising stars, with talented local young dancers and choirs bringing hometown pride and heart to the stage. It’s a joyful blend of timeless classics, fresh surprises, and community spirit."

Bob secured our tickets in the MaƮtre d' section. Arriving early, we were able to select the most comfortable seats allowing the greatest audience experience. Wow.

The show was fantastic. We were all dancing in our chairs. Everyone was talented. The standouts for us was an amazingly wonderful rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas and (surprisingly) Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm still smiling!

It was pretty magical to be able to tell Natalie Pilkington (Six the Musical), Jason Denton (Spamilton), and Lorenzo Olivera (The Knights of Music) how much we enjoyed the show along with getting a photo with them. What wonderful talents and people. This was a night to remember. Happy Day #17 of your Birthday Month, Jenny.
