Celebrating World Wildlife Day

Lynne and I could not have chosen a more perfect day to be at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park- It's World Wildlife Day!

We were also here for Toss The Tusk, a series of events taking place at zoos across the United States to raise awareness about the elephant poaching crisis and illegal ivory trade. The event encourages the public to support long-term conservation efforts by attending a local event and “surrender” their unwanted elephant ivory. Thankfully, neither of us had anything to surrender but it was a great educating opportunity, none-the-less.
Starting on the Tram is always the best introduction to the day.

The last time I was here I discovered a sit down and be served restaurant (my favorite way to eat)! Wow. "Enjoy an incredible view of the African Plains at the Safari Park's newest gathering spot: the Watering Hole restaurant and bar. Watch rhinos and giraffes as you dine on menu items including tasty sandwiches and fresh salads, or relax with a refreshing beverage from the full-service bar with a wide selection of craft beers, wine, and mixed drinks."
It was fun, scenic, relaxing, and quite delicious.
I mean how cool is this eating spot?

In a letter received from Paul Baribault, President and Chief Executive Officer, "Our global conservation efforts start with allies like you, who walk alongside us, and chose to be an ally for wildlife. We are so grateful to have you as a part of our conservation family and to go on this journey to save, protect, and care for the world’s wildlife with you. Thank you for being our ally—you are making a hopeful difference for wildlife worldwide." What a great thing to celebrate (not just Day 3 of my birthday month)!
