Sisterhood Celebrated...

In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the City of Temecula’s Sisterhood with Daisen, Japan, the Temecula Valley Museum is hosting an exhibit showcasing beautiful pieces of art gifted to the City throughout the many years of cultural exchanges.

Our family was very involved in the Temecula Sister City Association from 2003 to 2010. Many of the gifts on display were exchanged while we participated in the program. It was wonderful to see them again and in such a special setting.

The Mission of TSCA is "to encourage the understanding of each other as individuals and as members of the family of nations. The mission is achieved by facilitating cultural, academic and vocational exchanges that bridge the community of Temecula and our sister city to enrich business relationships and friendships, and foster mutual respect."

Visiting the exhibit gave me an opportunity to reminisce about the numerous students and adults we hosted over the years. Our first Daisen guest was student, Shuki, during the Summer of 2003.
I organized and led the Summer student visits which included an exhausting, but very tanoshi, week of trips to amusement parks, baseball games, City tours, beach days, and even a tour and shopping at Costco. WOW.

I always loved our Los Angeles days.

While we may have missed the 25th Anniversary celebration, we were active participants for the 15th. I had the honor of being a member of the Temecula Sister City Association and during that time I made incredible friendships and experienced unforgettable happenings. I look forward to continuing the relationship for years to come.
“No impersonal representation of a culture can fully communicate
its reality to others who have never known its living substance.
Through personal relations–
our curiosity can be fulfilled by a sense of knowledge,
cynicism can give way to trust,
and the warmth of human friendship be kindled.”
