Disney Day Park 1: Animal Kingdom

Our Disney day was a double feature with us traveling between two very diverse Parks. It was so incredible, I have to tell about it in two posts.

We began our day at this zoological theme park, the largest theme park in the world (covering 580 acres). This was a first for us and we loved sharing it with Bob, Erline, Jan and Chris.

We began on the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride, an open-air vehicle which offered us an amazing tour of a lush African savanna, home to real-live exotic animals.

We ventured into the heart of Africa. We even explored a lush tropical forest inhabited by native wildlife including gorillas, hippos and exotic birds.

The Lion King Musical was an exceptional show that was a highlight.
We even got a typical Florida downpour... it was fun to huddle under a palapa together.
Chris and I took the Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain (behind us). We careened through the Himalayan mountains on a speeding train while avoiding the clutches of the mythic Abominable Snowman. I loved it because I didn't know what to expect. So dang fun.
The performers were not only talented but they were friendly, too.
New park. Old friends. Way awesome.

We love The Animal Kingdom. Such great colors and I could explore the figures on the Tree of Life for a long time. I rode Expedition Everest ONCE and now David does it over and over as a single rider. Great zoom on the sleepy lion face, love the EARS, but seriously, where did you get the leopard print skirt??? I so appreciate the thematic details :) You rock!
