Teaching Girl Scouts Bookbinding...

Karen and I volunteered to go to Folsom, to help my friend, Keri's, Girl Scout troop earn their Book Artist Badge.

For centuries, humans have been developing methods to create and bind paper in order to share ideas, knowledge and inspiration with each other and with future generations. In this badge, try gluing, stitching and folding your way to shaping your own book. You’ll create some spectacular gifts and keepsakes.
We began our day with thrift store shopping in super fun Placerville.
Eight girls, all attentive, learned the most difficult of our bookbinding techniques. "Badges, we totally need badges."

"Books are containers.
They hold things:
Pictures, words, information.
What will your book contain?"
-Ester K. Smith, author, book artist

Thank you and Karen for making the trek, through rain and all, to help me and enrich the lives of 8 girls and adults! I learned there how truly beautiful books can be beyond words. Karen has such a fabulous collection!
