A Prescribed Burn... Wow!
Prescribed Burns are a necessity here in the Lake Tahoe Basin, but this was the first time we had ever been so close to one.
According to the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team (TFFT) operations will last through the next several weeks as conditions allow since Fall and Winter bring cooler temperatures and precipitation, which favor prescribed burning. Each operation follows a prescribed fire burn plan, which considers temperature, humidity, wind, moisture of the vegetation, and conditions for the dispersal of smoke. This information is used to decide when and where to burn.
This I do know, "A healthy forest is a happy forest".

We have them here too they call them controlled burns.
