Helping Friends Move On

When we moved to Tahoe, we became fast friends with Jackie, a woman who summered here for decades.

Jackie's son, Scott, and his wife, Kathy, would join in the merriment at times, but for the most part, our friendship was with Jackie and we made amazing memories together.
Recently, we lost Jackie and Scott and Kathy felt it was time to clear out the cabin. I jumped in to help by posting it on Facebook and crafting the directional signs.

This was the wording I used, "FREE Sale this weekend. Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 (8 AM to 4 PM both days). Dr. Jacqueline Wiseman has loved her little cabin in the pines since 1967. She has passed on but would be so happy to know her Tahoe Treasures were given to those in the community. Please come by and help clear out her home. Photos do not show nearly all there is. 'Modern estate sales (or FREE sales) aren't just about clearing out a house—they're about giving belongings a new life while helping families move forward.'"
Everything in the cabin was FREE. The outpouring of love as comments online as well as in person was heartwarming. One woman wrote, "Omg I just want to move in there as is. I’ve been dreaming all my life of becoming a lil ol' mountain lady. This is so sweet and a nice way to honor Dr. Wiseman."
The event was a huge success. We were all so touched by the caring shown and the thoughtful 'shopping' we witnessed.
When it was all over, Kathy and Scott took us to dinner. After a 3-hour long meal, we all got to know one another more and a true friendship has begun. Jackie's legacy continues in marvelous ways.

no longer to carry rain or usher storm,
but to add color to my sunset sky.”
— Rabindranath Tagore
