Wild Holidays with Cindy...

It's pretty rare that I stay out after dark but Cindy and I realized we needed to get our festive on and get WILD!

"Celebrate the holidays and see the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in a whole new light! Go on an expedition of light and travel through places that glow, shine, and twinkle with holiday cheer. Fanciful characters, musical entertainment, festive storytelling, and culinary treats create family fun and get everyone in the spirit of the season!"
We arrived early to fully explore the Park covering over 14,000 steps. Woohoo.
We began the fun on the colorful Conservation Carousel which features 60 ride elements to choose from, many of which replicate rare and endangered animals. The choice was amazing:  " ride a giraffe, rhino, zebra, cheetah, and more—unlimited rides for only $6 (and free on one's birthday).

The next stop was a 25 minute ride on the Africa Tram, an exciting expedition that best showcases the diverse wildlife while also creating a relaxing adventure. The ride path took us around some of the savanna habitats, giving us a chance to connect with wildlife on a closer level. What makes the tram repeatable is the tour guide. Each time, a different driver shares her expertise and delightful antidotes. What fun.

It was a must for us to see the Journey into the Wild Show which I haven't seen since before COVID. It did not disappoint. "Join our wildlife care specialists at Benbough Amphitheater as they introduce you to wildlife ambassadors representing San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s worldwide conservation work. Learn about amazing wildlife—from South America's Amazon and right here in our own backyard, in the Southwest of the United States—and find out what everyone can do to be good stewards of the planet and help conserve wildlife. Presentation runs 15 to 20 minutes." Wow.

Last month, when we were here, it was too hot for Everest, the albino wallaby, to be out playing. Today, at Kangaroo Walk in Walkabout Australia, we not only had the opportunity to admire him and his mom, but also numerous western gray kangaroos. We meandered about through their grassland habitat being entertained by these magnificent macropods.

After a wardrobe change and a delicious dinner, we let the park's illuminations turn the night into an unbelievable magical one.

Cindy even delighted in being in snow!

If life goes as planned, I will be returning to Wild Holidays two more times before the season ends. Bring on the JOY!
