St. Thomas for Hours of Exploration...

St. Thomas's history and culture alone are worth a visit to the island.

After clearing customs, we walked 2.5 miles to town and had a big lunch for fueling the day. We then boarded an open bus with "Chicago" for a 4 hour tour of the island.
Fort Christian, a U.S. National Landmark, is the oldest standing structure in the Virgin Islands.

It was Veterans' Day. Tributes to our military were everywhere.
Rich history, interesting fish, exotic flowers, prehistoric critters and beautiful colors- St. Thomas was a local of variety. It surprised us with its uniqueness.

And while we were exploring, our table mates, Ian and Donna, were getting married. Dinner, all together, was a reception of sorts. Here's to happily-ever-afters.

“Islands are metaphors of the heart,
no matter what poet says otherwise.”
― Jeanette Winterson
