The Gatsby Tea & Fashion Show...
This was my third time being a part of the Great Gatsby Festival and it was just as fabulous.
This couple is the most photographed every year. Are they so perfect?
We then gathered at our tea table, decorated with almost all of us having had a hand in creating a lovely spot for our afternoon soirée.
Bob was our exceptional butler who served us sweets and savories, 1920s high tea, and bootleg champagne.
The 30% chance of rain turned into a huge summer storm, so we all gathered our chairs and champagne and headed into the Grand Hall. Cherie Oliver hosted a history-filled fashion show. Each year the theme changes, with this year's being Tahoe’s Mansion Era. The models, in actual vintage clothing, portrayed everyone from Lucky Baldwin (above) in about 1880 to the families of the 1960s. Also showcased were guests’ outfits popular at high-end hotels (Tallac Hotel, Tahoe Tavern, and Glen Alpine Resort) as well as private homes (Ehrmann, Vikingsholm, Fleur du Lac, Valhalla and Vatican).
How incredible to be actually sitting in one of these historic homes (Heller Estate c. 1923), seeing fashions from those long ago eras and meeting the people who came before us who really put Tahoe on the map.
The Gatsby Tea is one of those events that is hard to fully explain to someone who has never been. It's a must!
