It's "Dead" here in Paris...
with an underground explore of the Catacombs and a visit to the cemetery.
Catacombes de Paris are an underground ossuary (Noun: A container or room into which the bones of dead people are placed) holding about 6 million Parisians.  Opened in the late 18th century, the underground cemetery became a tourist attraction on a small scale from the early 19th century, and has been open to the public on a regular basis from 1867.  This is an interesting "look" at Paris and it's history and one that we really looked forward to.
The sign above Kegan reads, "Stop!  This is the Empire of Death!"  Needless-to-say, we kept going!  Gruesome and fun at the same time!
Our next stop was Cimetière du Père-Lachaise, the largest cemetery in the city of Paris and the last home to some very famous people- Sarah Bernhardt, Maria Callas, Chopin, Colette, Max Ernst and so many more.
I wanted to visit Oscar Wilde.  While the sign asks, out of respect, not to vandalize the tomb, it is covered in lipstick (kisses and notes).  I have loved him since I read his quote, "I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train."
James Douglas "Jim" Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American lead singer and lyricist of the rock band The Doors as well as a poet.  After The Doors' explosive rise to fame in 1967, Morrison developed a severe alcohol and drug dependence which culminated in his death in Paris in 1971 at the age of 27 due to a suspected heroin overdose. His grave is one of Paris' most visited 'tourist attractions.
We began to appreciate Rossini after seeing his opera performed by CCM Spoleto.  He was in Paris from 1824-1829 leading the Théâtre-Italien.
The sadness captured in this statue seemed to say so much.  "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."  This was an interesting last full day in Paris...
