Boating to Emerald Bay...

Bob and Jenny are required to remove their boat, for the season, mid-September. How lucky were we to be included in one of their last Lake outings!

You know it's going to be a fabulous day when Bob cranks up the stereo and plays Pontoon Song by Little Big Town.

On the pontoon
Making waves and catching rays up on the roof
Jumping out the back, don't act like you don't want to
Party in slow motion
Out here in the open
Mmmmmmm motorboating
Coming ashore allowed us to explore just a little bit more.

Frolicking in the Bay made Jenny very happy.
Bob found a flower he was searching for.

I am always happy when I can hug one of the old growth trees that can (mostly) only be found in Emerald Bay.

Saying goodbye to Emerald Bay, from the water, was bittersweet. Oh man, Summer really is coming to an end here in Lake Tahoe. I plan to savor what remains as much as possible.

Ski Fun Farmers Market...

It had been a few years since we explored this Friday night institution. What fun it was to return.

"This beloved Friday market is where the heart of South Lake Tahoe comes alive. Stretching along the charming Ski Run Blvd, the market brings Tahoe’s best farmers, makers, musicians, and food vendors for a lively community event packed with good Tahoe vibes. Fridays, 3:00-8:00 pm through September 12, 2025."

One of the delights of Farmers Markets is the opportunity to reconnect with friends you bump into. Laura and Mitch were neighbors of ours when we first moved to South Lake Tahoe. Their booth, TaoZen Designs, was filled with such beautiful things.
They are rockhounds with great talent! Steve even bought my birthday gift (yes, seven months early).
Tahoe Mushroom Company was Nature's sculpture garden. I loved ogling their fungi.

We dined on delicious food in the company of Sharon and Erin. Yes, connections abounded.
We concluded our evening listening to the wonderful tunes provided by Tango + Twang. What a idyllic start to the last weekend of the Summer.

Last Live at Lakeview Concert

There's something very bittersweet about the words, Last for the Season. The conclusion of this Thursday night mainstay was one of great exuberance with a tinge of sadness that it all had to end.

There really isn't much more to say than what's perfectly expressed in the photos below. I can't wait until next Summer!

smile because it happened."

Last Visit to Angora Lakes?

After a week of cold and rain followed by this morning which didn't scream, "Let's go frolic in an alpine lake!", we forged ahead on our long held plans for a day at Angora Lakes Resort.

There's a saying we heard when we first moved to Tahoe... "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes!"
By the time we parked the car, layers were being peeled off. This was an exciting day. Sharon hadn't been to Angora in about 20 years and this was her daughter Erin's inaugural visit. It was an absolutely perfect day.
The walk demanded frequent pauses- not only to catch our breath but to admire the beauty of it all. Wow.

Angora Lakes Resort began in 1917 on Upper Angora Lake to offer rustic cabin rentals to visitors. The area's history, however, is tied to the pioneer Nathan Gilmore, who discovered Angora Springs in 1863 and raised Angora goats there in the 1870s, giving the lakes their name. The resort currently features nine historic, rustic cabins available for weekly rentals from June to mid-September. It also serves the most delicious coffee and is my favorite place in which to escape.

The backdrop looks almost fake. Yes, the most beautiful coffee spot ever (or at least pretty dang close).

"A lake is the landscape's most beautiful
and expressive feature.
It is earth's eye;
looking into which the beholder measures
the depth of his own nature."
-Henry David Thoreau
It is always magical to be on a lake with a friend.

If summer must end, I'm happy for these memories that will sustain me.

"Alas, summer sun can’t last forever.
The days will grow cooler and shorter
and our skin will once again pale.”
