Forest Church then a Rock Concert!

What a diverse day in South Lake Tahoe. There is so much craziness in town right now, it was pretty wonderful to begin the day nestled in the forest in the company of wonderful women for Forest Church.

I don't think I can describe this any better than its leader Marni Perschnick, a Mental Health Counselor and Forest Therapy Guide. "Where the Earth is sacred, Spirit is everywhere, and you are gently held. Sacred Nature Circle is a spiritually inclusive community for those who feel most alive, most connected, and most at home in the arms of nature. We welcome spiritual misfits, wild-hearted wanderers, tender seekers, and those longing to remember their deep belonging—to the Earth, to the Sacred, and to themselves."
I was introduced to this unique experience by Karen and Mimi. I thought, for my first foray, I'd invite other newcomers, Erin and Sharon, to join me. I must admit none of us knew what to expect though we went in openminded and receptive.
"Rooted in the rhythms of the Earth and guided by the cycles of the moon, Sacred Nature Circle is here to remind you: You are not too much. You are not alone. You are already part of the sacred circle. And the Earth, like soft moss, is waiting to hold you."

There was something incredibly emotional about this morning in the forest. Our long absence from Lake Tahoe seemed to draw me here, to this view, this reminder of how important nature is to my happiness.
We were asked to find a rock and listen to its story and tell it ours. Again, open-mindedness allowed me to have an incredible conversation with this large boulder. It was powerful. There is no way for me to fully share my experience but I am so happy I attended this church.
Marni wrote of our morning together, "Thank you for another beautiful Forest Church gathering!! We spent time hanging out with rocks and listening for their stories. Even broken, cracked, or crumbled things are valuable and are transformed into their next purpose." Just reading that makes me emotional. I loved this morning in nature with these people.
Our evening was a complete 180° as Steve, Cindy, and I embraced the exuberance that was Heavenly Village's Midway Art & Music Festival- a first for all of us.
"This isn’t just a concert—it’s a festival experience that celebrates creativity, community, and culture,” said Gary Casteel Jr., President of the Shops at Heavenly Village." After dining al fresco. We settled in for the first of two concerts offered on night #2 of the festival.
Oh man, what fun. We all agreed that we are now huge fans of Serena Karise. This band had the crowd on their feet dancing and singing along. It was pure JOY.

Heavenly Village becomes well, heavenly when the sun sets and the entire place is illuminated. The energy emanated not only from all the lights but also from all the excited people there. Wow.
We were actually there to see Alien Art Farm. Their song Smooth Criminal is one we remembered from the 90s. The music was so loud, bombarding (Cindy said it acted as a defibrillator), and alien, we decided to call it a night after the first song. Hey, we gave it a try.
The day's theme followed one of my favorite sayings, "A mind is like a parachute. Both only function when open." What a day!
