Our Incredible Saturday of Diverse FUN

This was one of those days where at its conclusion, one falls into bed completely exhausted and fully contented.

At 8:30 AM I was back at the Museum prepping hot cocoa and marshmallows for the second evening of Holiday in History. The first was a huge success for the Lake Tahoe Historical Society. Woohoo.

Next was a delightful morning in the company of some amazing women. The American Association of University Women has been a part of my South Lake Tahoe life since moving here. This annual event was a fortuitous opportunity to connect with those I haven't seen in years.
It was also an opportunity to dine very well. Yum.
How adorable are Jan's pinecone brownies?!
Several games were played. This one, where we drew snowmen on the top of our heads, was hysterical!
It also revealed levels of talent. This was Karen's.
This was mine. Yes, talent levels were revealed. But oh what fun it was.
"The South Lake Tahoe Branch of AAUW is one of almost 100 branches in California. As an active branch of the California and National AAUW since 1964, our purpose is to promote equity, education, intellectual growth, individual worth, and development of opportunities for women and girls." And it makes a Saturday in December pretty unforgettable as well.
Our evening concluded at our new, favorite coffee place, Paddle House Beans and Brews for a very groovy Pray for Powder Party. How could we resist this, "There will be a Best Retro Ski Suit Contest, Glow Stick Dance Party, kid-friendly activities, door prizes, raffle, hot dogs, hot cocoa, and s’mores. DJ Diversity will be spinning dance music all evening!"
Oh man, I would have loved to have dressed in the 60s. So cool.
But this is what we were able to pull together. We were really feeling it.
What a gathering of old and new friends.
It was so exciting to see what people could find to wear.

Hits of the 80s made dancing inevitable and so dang fun.

The connectivity of attendees was incredible. These are new neighbors, Michelle and Clark.
I hadn't seen Maria in years. She and I met over the Sugar Pine Foundation and interacted several times for that worthy organization.
There is no way I can fully express the wonderfulness of this evening. I hope it becomes an annual tradition. Just in case, I'll keep an eye out for vintage ski garb. Yes, it was an incredible Saturday in South Lake Tahoe.

and its greatest gifts are family and friends.”
