Our 3rd Super Girl Surf Festival

Our plans were to spend the morning at the beach. We did not let the drizzly, overcast day stop us from being spectators at Oceanside's 19th Annual Super Girl Surf Festival.

Our timing was perfect to enjoy the world’s largest women’s surf competition and music festival. This 3-day FREE event is filled with a world-class surfing competition and a festival village loaded with female-inspired vendors, activities, and diverse entertainment.

Oceanside's Super Girl Festival is part of a series of large-scale women’s sports, music, and lifestyle events designed to empower, uplift and inspire women. Each of Super Girl’s annual festivals is centered around providing athletic, social, cultural, educational, business and entertainment opportunities for women in areas where they are traditionally underrepresented. How very cool that we've been to three of them so far!

Unlike these photographers on the beach, we did most of our viewing from atop the Oceanside Pier. What a view spot.

Having been up since 3 AM, saying goodbye to parting kiddos, we didn't stay at the event for very long. But what we had the opportunity to see was delightful... Athletes not only in the water but in the sand as well.

Perusing the vendors' booths, dining at a sidewalk café, and extreme people-watching rounded out our beachside Sunday morning.

Oh, and this is as close as I will ever come to actually surfing. I'm content just being a spectator! Fun stuff.
