A Castle and Music in Tahoe...

As most know, Emerald Bay is one of my happy places. Today began our weekly visit to this magic spot and we took Jan and Chris with us.

There are only two ways to get down to the Vikingsholm Castle and the shore of Emerald Bay. One is to hike the steep path or the other is to boat in. For those who are disabled, neither of those options are viable. This is our 4th summer of volunteering to be escorts and sharing this place with those who otherwise couldn't experience it- a highlight.
For people who have a valid ADA placard, special arrangements are necessary to reach the Vikingsholm area which is located down a very steep gravel road that is not open to private vehicles. Call (530) 525-9529 to check on the availability of shuttle service to escort people with mobility disabilities to Vikingsholm area. Reservations for this service must be made at least 24 hours in advance and a $10 parking fee paid. This service is offered during Vikingsholm tour season: Memorial Day weekend - September.
Next stop was Jimmy's to introduce Chris and Jan to our favorite duo, Ike & Martin. I believe we have new fans in our midst. We also shared our love of Bananagrams® with them. The evening ended with dinner at Base Camp Pizza. YUM.
It was a full day of sharing what we love with friends who were game for all of it.
