Jazz on the Beach...

Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge, just minutes from our cabin, hosts concerts on their private beach for a summer of fantastic music and fabulous sunsets.

Niall McGuiness and the New World Jazz Project are always a crowd favorite.

I will never tire of a Tahoe sunset!
This enchanted event happens every Thursday at 7 PM through August 28th. It is free of charge, open to all, with picnics encouraged. Definitely on our list of Tahoe wows

Todd Borg's 'Tahoe Ghost Boat'...

Every new release in the Owen McKenna series gets launched at the South Lake Tahoe Library.

Todd Borg is a literary STAR, here in Tahoe, to all of his fans. While he had written for decades before moving to Tahoe, the Tahoe landscape gave him the idea for a series of novels with a detective protagonist who lived in Tahoe. The result was Owen McKenna, an ex-cop with a tragic background who moved from San Francisco to the mountains to study art and earn a slightly more genteel living as a private detective.

This is the 12th book in this series and no doubt, a page-turner. Summer wouldn't be summer without a new Owen McKenna mystery thriller.

"Crazy Club" Authors on KRLT...

This Saturday, the Friends of the Library are hosting a super fun morning event with Christie and Robyn, childhood friends who write a children series, based on their elementary school's "Crazy Club".

To promote their event, they were interviewed by Howie Nave, a fantastic supporter of our library and the perfect start of anyone's day!
So I'll be at the library for a reading of the newest book, Larry’s Lucky Charm along with a talent show. Bravo!

Ike and Martin at Zephyr Cove...

There are a couple of adjectives I use frequently to describe Tahoe: magical and mesmerizing are two of the most accurate and spot on for tonight's Ike and Martin concert.

The weather vacillated between stormy and sunny, but when your toes are in the sand and you are rocking to some of the most talented musicians you have ever encountered, nothing else matters!
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right

Bowling with Friends...

A great way to spend a night...

Tahoe Bowl has been in town for over 50 years and is within walking distance of our cabin. It is a pretty cool place to hang with friends (Linda & Casey). And for a bonus... Monday is $10 two topping tasty pizza night.

Sorensen's For Lunch...

Wanting to share the beauty of Hope Valley, we headed to Sorensen's Resort for lunch.

We dined in history as this settlement dates to 1926 and Danish immigrant Martin Sorensen. That’s when he opened a service station, store and dance floor at the site of a derelict fishing lodge.

What a spectacular setting and a nice getaway.

Spontaneous Backyard Bash...

With friends in town, just until tomorrow, we all rallied together for a deck dining experience for 11. What fun.

Raja and Laura chilling in the lawn has to be my favorite image of the night.

David Foster Sculpture Studio Tour

Earlier this year, we attended a presentation by David about his sculpting, so when the art tour offered a glimpse into his studio, we knew we had to go.

David Foster is an international artist and sculptor specializing in traditional and contemporary fine art applications. In addition, he is a gracious host.

Next weekend we will expose ourselves to even more art. There is always something magical happening in Tahoe!

August: Osage County at LTCC

This exceptional play was our first ushering job for Valhalla Tahoe's summer season.

This darkly comedic play by Tracy Letts, was the recipient of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and one we thoroughly enjoyed. The acting was powerful and believable and while the subject matter was intense, at times, we walked away happy to have experienced this event.
How wonderful to be back doing what we love with the people who make Tahoe unforgettable.

Bonita Paulis Studio Tour...

Located just steps from our cabin, this stop on day #2 of the TAL Artist Studio Tour was high on our 'must see' list.

We met Bonita shortly after moving to Tahoe and loved her pastels, instantly.
The beauty of these two weekends of touring is that you get to peek inside where the artists create. The outside was pretty magnificent as well.
After seeing Bonita's yard displaying her work, I know her quote is so true, "I have lived in the Rare Air of the Sierra Nevada Lake Tahoe area for 30 years and will never run out of scenes that inspire me."
I left inspired by her spectacular scenes of Tahoe and beyond.

Hot August Nights on Ski Run Blvd...

Okay so it's Hot July Nights but fun just the same. This event complements everything Hot August Nights has to offer including Celebrity Show-n-Shines with awards, vendors and great free entertainment.

My college car was a VW Thing so I'm pretty partial to ogling them. Steve liked this, too.

I loved this car... The Shelby Daytona Coupe. It was built for auto racing, specifically to take on Ferrari in the GT class. Just six Daytona original coupes were built between 1964 and 1965.

Being here, strolling among history, was a neat way to spend our Friday.

Tahoe Art League Artist Studio Tour...

What perfect timing for Betty to be in Tahoe for 50 Artists Celebrating Tahoe Art League's 50th Anniversary.

We began our explore at Bona Fide Books.
Mom got to experience a 125 year old letterpress.
My very talented friend, Karen Cutter, creates humorous, quirky, fun, mini books out of fabric and recycled materials. I'm hoping some of her talent wears off on me by proximity!

Studio 15 housed eleven artists and they were incredibly diverse, from gourd painting to quilting. Catherine Lockner was one of the talented painters and I delighted in her laptop covered in paint smudges.
We agreed that one of our favorites was Nancy Lynch whose vibrant colors and familiar scenes were absolutely beautiful. We have only seen two of the 18 studios. It is going to be an exciting two weekends of art. Here's to being inspired.

Thursday in Tahoe ROCKS...

A highlight of every summer is the Lakeview Summer Music Series.

Meeting up with friends, grooving to the tunes lakeside. This is truly the sweet life that Tahoe affords us.
Get ready for a new sound that you won't soon forget! The Groove Master, Paa Kow (pronounced Pah-Ko), fuses rhythm and artistry from his home in Ghana with Jazz and African Pop.  Fans from all over the world agree that Paa Kow exhibits extraordinary talent and holds "the perfect groove."

“There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day,
and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them.”
